The Community Autism Awareness

The Community Autism Awareness & Early Screening Program aims to increase public understanding of autism, reduce stigma, and promote early identification and intervention in underserved communities.

In many regions of West Africa, autism remains poorly understood, often leading to late diagnosis, social exclusion, and lack of support for families. This program brings knowledge, screening tools, and guidance directly to communities, empowering parents, caregivers, and local leaders.

Key Components

Community Awareness Campaigns
We organize educational sessions, public talks, and outreach events to explain autism in simple, culturally appropriate terms—addressing myths, reducing stigma, and encouraging inclusion.

Early Screening & Referral
Through basic screening activities conducted by trained professionals, we help identify early signs of autism and developmental delays in young children, enabling timely referral to appropriate services.

Parent & Caregiver Education
Parents receive practical guidance on early childhood development, warning signs to watch for, and the importance of early support.

Collaboration with Local Actors
We work alongside schools, community health workers, and local organizations to ensure sustainability and community ownership.

Program Impact

✔ Increased awareness and acceptance of autism within communities
✔ Earlier identification of children needing support
✔ Better access to guidance and intervention pathways
✔ Reduced stigma and isolation for families

Program Goal

To ensure that no child is left behind due to lack of knowledge, and that families are empowered with the information and support needed to seek help early and confidently.
